To accept refugees, to accept those different than us, to offer kindness and grace, even when it's hard, yet to offer no safe harbor for fascism, hatred, and cruelty... these are the true American values. They are human values. They are the impulses that make our species redeemable and worthy of Grace ourselves. They are what it means to love God, in whatever form that takes for us, exemplified in Saint Alban, patron saint of the refugees and the tortured. When I moved to West Virginia, I was inspired by the little town of St Albans and the implicit promise offered by its name. May we all strive to be a patron to those who suffer. If we do, the Lord will always provide more bounty than we need.
A special thanks to The McElroy Family, including, but not limited to: Justin, Dr. Sydnee, Clint, Griffin, and Travis for not only demonstrating the decency and compassion of the good people of West Virginia, but also for the inspiration their work on Sawbones and The Adventure Zone provided to this song.
lyrics
Grabbed Summer by his hair and said "We'll be fine"
As we crossed over the Kanawha County line
Sweating beads of illicit Southern tea
Smoking through saccharine anxiety
So give me refugees... mouths to feed
The Lord provides more bounty than we need
Lay your tortured at my feet... I'll intervene
Suture their wounds, keep them warm and clean
Saint Alban prays for thee
Out where all the riverbanks erode
Cryptids quarrel and satellites explode
Amnesty's once-sturdy lumber warps
Like bones within a language's new corpse
Chorus
Filled my soul with everything I own
Pretending I was more philosophy than stone
The highway howls and the motors moan,
But it wont get to me
Martyrs and Monsters with borrowed names
Like Wicked Freedom and Sacred Shame
Some folks will spill blood to stay the same
But not me...
Chorus

This amazing cover art, as per usual, was done by Foggy Madison (@ghostcashew on twitter and insta). His commissions are open, and I couldn't recommend him more highly for all your artistic needs.
Stuffy Doll is weird music for creatures that like stories, wordplay, glitter, and grit. Lots of genres, high-concept concept albums, an unreasonable amount of attention to detail
